João Paulo Davim, researcher at TEMA – Centre for Mechanical Technology and Automation and Full Professor at the University of Aveiro, has once again received international recognition for his contributions to the field of Mechanical Engineering.
According to the latest ScholarGPS® rankings, in 2026 João Paulo Davim was ranked 1st in Portugal and 95th worldwide in the discipline of Mechanical Engineering, placing him among the top 0.05% of scholars out of approximately 30 million researchers evaluated worldwide.
He was also honoured by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) with the 2024 Reviewer of the Year Award, in recognition of his outstanding contributions as a reviewer for the Journal of Tribology.
These distinctions reflect the international impact and visibility of João Paulo Davim’s scientific work and further strengthen the recognition of TEMA and the University of Aveiro within the global Mechanical Engineering research community.
