As a result of the investments made by TEMA over its 20 years of activity, the TEMA infrastructure offers a wide range of highly specialised and dedicated equipment. The multi‑technique XPS/UPS and AES surface‑analysis system highlights the uniqueness of the services available to the scientific community, being the only one in the country operating under vacuum conditions of 2×10⁻¹⁰ mbar.
TEMA’s infrastructure is equipped with a set of mechanical testing machines whose combined capabilities can be considered unique in Portugal. These range from high‑precision machines of 1×10⁻⁶ N—such as universal testing machines with a 100 N measurement range and equipment specialised for testing biological tissues obtained through in vitro cultures—to 1000 kN machines that allow the testing of high‑strength steel alloys.
This makes it possible, within a single open facility accessible to the community, to obtain mechanical testing results and measurements across multiple scales, from nano to macro.
