TEMA – Centre for Mechanical Technology and Automation announces the upcoming seminar “Digital Innovation in the Plastics Processing Industry”, organized under the PRODUTECH DIH – Digital Innovation HUB initiative. The event will take place on March 25, from 16:00 to 18:30, at the University of Aveiro, in an on‑site format only.
The seminar aims to strengthen cooperation between academia and industry by showcasing the potential of digital technologies, data science and artificial intelligence to transform polymer processing. The session features three presentations by TEMA researchers, highlighting practical applications of smart sensing, data‑driven analysis, predictive maintenance and advanced modelling of polymeric materials.
Programme
According to the official programme:
- Pedro Nunes – Smart devices and Big Data analysis techniques for predictive maintenance
- Tiago Gomes – Processing‑induced degradation in polylactic acid and recovery strategies for closed‑loop additive manufacturing
- Mylene Cadete – Development of predictive tools to control shape‑shifting behaviour in 4D‑printed polymers
The seminar is primarily targeted at companies in the plastics processing sector, but other participants with an interest in industrial innovation and digital transformation are welcome.
Registration
Participation is free but requires prior registration by March 22:
