TEMA research fellow receives three distinctions at the University of Aveiro’s flagship annual research event.

José Marques Cação, a research fellow at TEMA – Centre for Mechanical Technology and Automation, was awarded the Best Presentation Award at Research Summit 2026, the highest distinction granted at the event.

The award recognised the excellence of the scientific presentation delivered by the Mechanical Engineering doctoral researcher, entitled “DECODE-ESS: coverage-driven synthetic sampling for explainable tree-based surrogate models”, which focuses on the development of advanced methodologies in the fields of modelling, artificial intelligence, and data analytics.

In addition to the event’s top award, José Marques Cação also received the Best Presentation Award in Engineering and the Best Presentation Award associated with TEMA, further highlighting the quality and impact of the research carried out within the research unit.

Held under the theme “Science, Policy and Impact: From Evidence to Action”, Research Summit 2026 brought together researchers and students from across all scientific domains of the University of Aveiro, providing an important platform for sharing research results, fostering collaborations, and promoting scientific excellence.

These distinctions recognise the scientific merit of José Marques Cação’s work and reflect the high quality of the research developed at TEMA in the fields of engineering, computational modelling, and data science.

Congratulations to José Marques Cação on this achievement!
