Competencies
Responsible Researcher: Paula Marques
The Microscopy and Imaging Laboratory (LI) is dedicated to the morphological, structural and functional characterization of materials, surfaces and biological systems, using advanced microscopy and image‑analysis techniques. The versatility of its equipment enables studies at multiple scales, ranging from the macro to the nanometric level.
Core Competencies
- High‑resolution observation of surfaces and microstructures using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM).
- Acquisition of fluorescent images and analysis of cellular markers using fluorescence microscopy.
- Nanoscale topographical and mechanical characterization of surfaces using Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM).
- Measurement of local mechanical properties such as hardness and elastic modulus through nanoindentation.
- Support for research projects and provision of specialized services in morphological and functional analysis.
