Paulo Lima - PhD in Mechanical Engineering, is a Professor at the Superior School of Design, Management and Production Technologies of Aveiro-Norte (ESAN), University of Aveiro, and an affiliated researcher at Centre for Mechanical Technology and Automation (TEMA) and at Intelligent Systems Associate Laboratory (LASI). His field of research are currently on emerging technologies for thermoplastic composites and in the field of direct digital manufacturing, in particular in additive manufacturing technologies for ceramic, glass, metallic, polymeric and natural materials. He has maintained a continuous collaboration in industrial R&D projects, based on competitive funding. Principal investigator of the consortium R&D project SMARTMould@footwear - Sustainable Modular Advanced Reusable Tooling mold for footwear (COMPETE2030-FEDER-01435800) and TECH4 T-RTM - Advanced technologies solutions for T-RTM (POCI-FEDER-47026). Participating element in several industrial R&D consortiums projects, such as AM_CORK – Manufatura aditiva com cortiça; 3S4Leather – Sustainable and Sensor Enabled Solutions Based on Leather Waste Through Additive Manufacturing; RISE-SUP – Complete Reuse of Rice By-products for Packaging and Supplements; B2_Solutions - Biobased and Biodegradable Composites.

Member of the ESAN Executive Committee since 2019 and Director of Innovation at TECFAB - Factory of the Future Association, since 2024, a private law association with the mission of promoting structuring conditions for industrial innovation in the thematic area of Technology, Manufacturing and Design, within the priority domain of Industrialization and Advanced Manufacturing Systems.
