I graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the Polytechnical University of Timi¿oara, Romania, in 1993. On July 16, 2004, I received my PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Porto, Portugal. From 1999 to 2007, I held a five-year Ph.D. scholarship and a three-year postdoctoral scholarship, both of which were granted by FCT. Since 2007, I have been a researcher at the Center for Mechanical Technology and Automation and, since 2021, at LASI (the Intelligent Systems Associate Laboratory). I am also a member of the Scientific Committee of the European Scientific Association for Material Forming (ESAFORM). My work has focused on developing models to predict sheet metal forming limits under linear and complex loadings using advanced phenomenological and physically based plasticity models. I developed several original software packages for predicting Forming Limit Diagrams. The quality and breadth of these results have allowed me to develop extensive expertise in material modelling and the development of scientific software. I have authored one book, one book chapter, and 48 publications: 21 in international peer-reviewed journals, 14 in indexed conference proceedings, and 13 in non-indexed proceedings of international conferences. My work has received more than 730 citations and an h-index of 13 (SCOPUS). Of these, 25 were published as principal and corresponding author. I have participated in 47 presentations at international conferences, including 3 keynote speeches and 5 invited talks. I participated in three European research projects as a member of scientific teams: BRITE-EURAM, INCO-COPERNICUS, EBRIC, and the Competitive and Sustainable Growth programs, as well as fifteen national research projects. I coordinated one project (total funds: €237,809.36) financed through the Portuguese Operational Program for Competitiveness and Internationalization and the Foundation for Science and Technology. The final report was approved with a classification of A. I have been an editor of special issues of the international journal Metals: "Challenges and Achievements in Sheet Metal Forming" (2021) and "Advances in Metal Forming and Plasticity" (2025). I organized seven international mini-symposia at RTME 2016, ICPDF 2020, the 26th International Conference on Plasticity, Damage & Fracture, and ESAFORM 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025. I have been a member of the organizing committee for three international conferences: Numisheet 2016, RTME 2016, and ESAFORM 2022. I have collaborated with prestigious foreign research laboratories such as LPMTM-CNRS (Univ. Paris Nord, France), RIKEN (Japan), GIFT POSTECH (Republic of Korea), CERTETA (Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania), and Science et Ingénierie des Matériaux et des Procédés (Grenoble, France), as well as outstanding foreign scientists who have co-authored some of my publications. I have been a reviewer for the International Journal of Plasticity (since 2006), the International Journal of Mechanical Sciences (since 2012), the International Journal of Material Forming (since 2013), the Transactions of the Nonferrous Metals Society of China (since 2019), and the Mathematical Problems in Engineering (since 2022).
