Isabel Duarte is a researcher in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Aveiro and at the Centre for Mechanical Technology and Automation (TEMA), where she has been based since 2009. She has served as Director of the Doctoral Programme in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Aveiro since June 2024. Her research focuses on the design and characterisation of architected cellular and porous materials, including metallic foams and TPMS-based structures, hybrid structures, and on X-ray microcomputed tomography applied to materials and life sciences. She holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Coimbra, an MSc in Materials Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon, and a PhD in Engineering Sciences from the University of Porto, carried out in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute IFAM (Germany). She holds four patents, including one international patent.
