Dário Mitreiro is currently a PhD student in mechanical engineering at the University of Aveiro, with a growing research profile in finite element analysis, data-driven material modelling, and machine learning applications. He completed his master’s degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Aveiro in 2021, concluding with a self-proposed thesis titled “Weldability Analysis of Aluminium Alloys”, graded 18 out of 20. During his studies, he was a development team leader for the Motochanics UA team for nearly three years, managing prototype development and collaborating with academic and industrial partners. He recently contributed to the I-ReTiS-Leaks project as an investigator, focused on the development of intelligent water supply systems. Author of a paper submitted to MDPI Metals journal focused on data-driven models for inverse material parameter identification and co-author of two conference papers presented at ESAFORM 2025 and IDDRG 2025, and one conference abstract presented at DTE 2025, contributing valuable research and insights in the field of sheet metal material parameter identification using machine learning. Professionally, he has over two years of experience as a mechanical project engineer in industrial automation, having worked on several projects across the automotive, construction, food (FDA directive), and explosive (ATEX directive) industries, with experience in 2D/3D CAD, FEA, and 3D printing. He also worked as a software engineer at Brightstuff (Barix Group), where he developed electronic automated testing frameworks for IoT devices, acquiring knowledge on Linux systems (Yocto/OpenWRT), microcontrollers (RaspberryPi, Arduino, ESP32), embedded applications and scripts (C, C++, Python, Lua, Bash), .NET applications (C#/VB), databases (MySQL), Web tools (REST API), real-time data analysis (Grafana) and code managment (GitHub, BitBucket). As a complement to his professional career, he attended training on Solidworks PDM, 5S, geometric dimensioning and tolerance, security against fires in buildings, FMEA, C# and C++ courses.
