Daniel Rodrigues holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP). He is a researcher at INEGI – Institute of Science and Innovation in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering and a member of the Scientific Board of CMech-Lab (https://cmechrlab.wordpress.com/). Since 2020, he has been an Invited Assistant Professor at the University of Aveiro, and since 2021, an Invited Adjunct Professor at the School of Engineering of the Polytechnic of Porto (ISEP), where he has taught several courses, including Solid Mechanics, 3D Design and Modelling, Technical Drawing, and Automation.

Between 2018 and 2021, he served as an Invited Teaching Assistant at FEUP, lecturing on Structural Mechanics in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. In 2019–2020, supported by a Fulbright Scholarship, he was a visiting researcher at the Mechanosynthesis Group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), led by Prof. John Hart. During this stay, he developed numerical algorithms to simulate an extrusion-based additive manufacturing process, completing part of his doctoral research.

Over nine years of research experience, he has specialised in numerical methods - particularly meshless methods - computational mechanics, structural mechanics, composite materials, additive manufacturing, and computer-aided design and manufacturing. He has authored 16 peer-reviewed journal articles, 5 book chapters, and presented his work at more than 20 national and international conferences. By 2025, he will have co-supervised 10 master’s dissertations (6 ongoing) and will have supervised hundreds of student projects and group assignments in the fields of computer-aided design, manufacturing, and engineering.
