Materials Synthesis Laboratory

Competencies

Responsible Researcher: Paula Marques

The Materials Synthesis Laboratory (LSM) is a multidisciplinary space dedicated to the preparation and processing of materials at small scale, supporting scientific research and experimental development across multiple areas.

Core Competencies

  • Preparation of solutions, suspensions and reagents for the synthesis of functional and structural materials.
  • Wet‑ and dry‑chemistry synthesis processes with controlled temperature, agitation and specific atmospheres.
  • Execution of experimental procedures under safe conditions using ventilated fume hoods.
  • Support for experimental research in areas such as biomaterials, nanomaterials, polymers and composites.
  • Processing of nanofibres and membranes by electrospinning with customizable geometries and conditions (NANON‑01A, MECC Co. Ltd., Japan).
