Heat Transfer Laboratory

Competencies

Responsible Researcher: Fernando Neto

The Heat Transfer Laboratory (LTC) specializes in the analysis and experimental study of thermal transfer phenomena, supporting applied research and technological development in sectors such as energy, automotive, aeronautics and industrial processes.

Core Competencies

  • Study of heat transfer mechanisms (conduction, convection and radiation) in simple and complex systems.
  • Experimental testing for the thermal characterization of components, devices and systems, including measurement of heat‑transfer coefficients and thermal resistances.
  • Modelling and numerical simulation of thermal processes using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and advanced analysis methods.
  • Research on cooling and thermal‑management systems applied to power electronics, batteries and industrial devices.
  • Development of solutions for thermal optimization in manufacturing processes and energy systems.

Additional Information

The LTC is equipped with thermal chambers, heat‑flux and temperature sensors, data‑acquisition systems and simulation software, enabling an integrated approach that combines experimentation and modelling.
