Competencies
Responsible Researcher: Carlos Relvas
The Product Development Laboratory (LDP) and the Demonstrator and R&D Laboratory for Additive Manufacturing (LD+R&D) are two units installed at DEM/TEMA dedicated to developing competencies in digital design and manufacturing. They are equipped with a range of technologies that enable the rapid and accurate fabrication of parts, models and prototypes.
Currently Available Equipment / Technologies:
- 3D Printers: Essential for digital manufacturing, rapid prototyping and design iteration. Available technologies: FDM/FFF, DLP, polymer SLS and Metal FFF.
- 3D Scanners: Used to digitize existing objects and create digital models for reverse engineering. Available scanning technologies: laser scanning and structured‑light scanning.
- 3D Metrology: For GD&T inspection of parts. Available technologies: coordinate measuring machines (CMM), FARO arm, and contact and non‑contact probing systems.
