TEMA – Centre for Mechanical Technology and Automation took part in Research Summit 2026, held at the University of Aveiro from 15 to 17 July under the theme “Science, Policy and Impact: From Evidence to Action”. The event aims to foster meaningful discussions among University of Aveiro researchers, strengthen collaboration, promote scientific excellence, and stimulate research activities across the institution.
TEMA's participation began with a presentation by its Coordinator, Paula Marques, entitled “30 years of TEMA: Engineering Evidence into Action and Societal Impact”, highlighting the unit’s achievements over the past three decades and its contribution to scientific knowledge, technological innovation, and societal impact.
TEMA researchers also contributed to several thematic parallel sessions addressing key scientific and societal challenges. In the “Sustainable and Resilient Systems and Industry” session, TEMA was represented by Margarida Coelho and Victor Neto. The “Data, Modelling and Decision-Making” session featured contributions from Pedro Prates, Paulo Jorge Teixeira Fernandes, and Gabriel Constantinescu. In the “Society, Policy and Health” session, TEMA was represented by Eloisa Macedo, Gil Gonçalves, and Jorge Bandeira.
TEMA’s participation in Research Summit 2026 reflects the breadth of expertise within the research unit and its commitment to advancing excellent research, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and contributing to solutions for societal challenges.
