I am Jayakrishnan Kaliyarmattom Ravindran, a Ph.D. student enrolled in the doctoral programme in Energy Systems and Climate Change (2022-2025). I have a Master's degree in Sustainable Energy and Green Technologies from the University College Dublin, Ireland, where I achieved a final GPA of 3.79 (18 in the Portuguese classification). During my Master's degree I have done 2 LCA's, one using spreadsheet and the ecoinvent database and the second using the GaBi software. I have also taken modules in "Waste to energy technologies" and "the bioconomy". My Master's thesis, titled "Temperature dependence of PV efficiency & the feasibility of a PV plant in India," investigated the effects of environmental factors on the efficiency and power output of panels made of various photovoltaic materials in different locations across India. Additionally, I used economic factors such as the Feed-in tariff to identify the most feasible location and technology for implementing a PV plant in India, using Net Present Value as the decision point. This section was completed using HOMER microgrid optimization software. The final part of my Master's thesis was a review of policy drivers for renewable energy in both the Global (United States and Europe) and Indian context.

I obtained a Bachelor's degree in Physics from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala, India with a final grade of 8.74/10 (17 in the Portuguese classification scale). I volunteered in the energy audit of my college during my final year. I worked as a team lead for the content department at an education technology firm from 2020 to 2022. This experience allowed me to develop project management skills, team leadership, attention to detail, and good presentation skills. I also regularly presented classes in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

I have received several awards, including the "MLA Award for Educational Excellence" and the "Kerala Sahodaya Certificate of Merit", both of which were for receiving 90+ percentage for all subjects in the school leaving examination. I have also won prizes in science and general knowledge quiz competitions. Additionally, I mentored undergraduate students in their end of year project "Biosystems Engineering Design Challenge" and was selected as one of ten members from UA to the 2022-2023 "IMFAHE platform of talent" for Ph.D. students from European universities. I am currently undergoing a mentorship program with an expert from the industry as part of this. I was selected as part of the 26-member team in the "Peace 2010-11" cultural exchange programme from India to the United Kingdom. I have attended a national level conference on the "Approach of of green chemistry in Pharma, Chemical and Material Science sector" held in connection with the department of science and technology, Government of India.
