Inês Direito is an Auxiliary Researcher (Investigador Auxiliar) at the Center for Mechanical Technology and Automation (TEMA), Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Aveiro (Portugal). She is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Engineering Education, University College London (United Kingdom), and a Visiting Senior Research Associate in the Department of Psychology, University of Johannesburg (South Africa). Inês has a PhD in Psychology from the University of Aveiro, an MSc in Cognitive Sciences and a Licenciatura in Psychology from the University of Minho. Her research interests include empathy and emotions in engineering education; diversity, equity and inclusion in engineering education and professional practice; skills development and career pathways of engineering students. Inês is an Associate Editor of JEE (Journal of Engineering Education), Member of the Editorial Board of EJEE (European Journal of Engineering Education), Member of the SEFI Board of Directors (European Society for Engineering Education), and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
