Gabriel Constantinescu completed his Doctoral (Ph.D.) and Master (M.Sc.) studies in Physics on 03.06.2014, at the University of Zaragoza (ICMA, CSIC), Spain, and on 30.06.2011, at the Faculty of Physics, University of Bucharest, Romania, respectively. He earned his Engineering Diploma (Dipl.-Eng) Degree in Environmental Engineering on 15.05.2009, from the Faculty of Biotechnical Systems Engineering, "Politehnica" University of Bucharest, Romania. He has a h-index of 16 (as of August 2025, Source: Scopus) and has published over 43 peer-reviewed articles (13 as first author) on various functional materials, with more than 860 total citations (Source: Scopus, August 2025). He has presented his research results on more than 20 occasions (6 oral presentations and 14 posters) and has received several awards and honors related to science and technology. Additionally, he published one online interview (MCAA Newsletter) and two general-public articles (as a guest author in 2019) on an online blog related to advanced functional materials (MATMATCH) and has actively participated in several public events, most recently at Aveiro Tech Week 2024, aimed at advertising/popularizing science and technology to a general audience. He has significant experience in physical sciences and advanced materials research, development, innovation, and engineering. He has worked with more than 15 different types of state-of-the-art materials and 30 high-tech R&D systems in over 8 multidisciplinary scientific projects. In the past five years (2020-2025), he has successfully secured and contributed in four Portuguese scientific projects (2021.09690.CBM, as a principal researcher, completed; 2022.09319.PTDC, as a co-principal researcher, ongoing; 2023.14478.PEX, as a team member, ongoing; 2024.13866.CPCA.A0, as a principal researcher, ongoing). Gabriel has been the main supervisor of three postgraduate students involved in various academic Materials Engineering programs (MSc, industrial project, young researcher training) and serves as a peer reviewer for over 10 international SCI/ISI journals, including Materials Letters and Scientific Reports. He has completed eight professional training courses in Spain, Germany, Romania, and Portugal. From 2020 to 2022, he taught, trained, and managed over 70 final-year science and engineering students in two academic practical courses related to the electrical, magnetic, and optical properties of commercial functional materials. In 2024, he established new collaborations in academia (physics) and industry (ocean energy), with Drs. Estelina Lora da Silva and André Miguel Trindade Pereira, from the University of Porto (PT), and with the CEOs and CTOs of INANOENERGY (PT), MINESTO AB (SE) and Ocean Harvesting Technologies AB (SE). He is a recent (2021) member of three important European science associations: SPCV, ECerS, and MCAA. He is currently working as a contracted researcher in the Portuguese project PRR C644866475-00000012 – MHSi, focusing on advanced programming, databases, modeling, simulations, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and biodegradable polymeric composites for a prototype two-wheeled electric vehicle concept (https://www.mariabike.com). He also recently (May 2025) received a "Very Good" final rating from CCADIUA/PADUA, for the quantitative evaluation of his performance at UA between 2022-2024. His medium-to-long-term goal is to establish his own research team and conduct coherent research, developments and innovations in advanced functional materials & renewable energy production, conversion and storage solutions. He also aims to promote sustainable living standards and solutions through physical sciences, IT and materials science, technology, and engineering, by collaborating with passionate professionals in stimulating projects and environments. He is driven by the personal philosophy: "Keep on learning and do meaningful work" In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family
