Daniel Cruz holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto. His doctoral research focused on the development of data-driven constitutive models for advanced high-strength steels, integrating experimental characterization, numerical modelling, and artificial intelligence to predict material behaviour under complex loading conditions. His work was supported by a PhD scholarship awarded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).
His research interests encompass computational mechanics, constitutive modelling of materials for metal forming applications, and the application of machine learning techniques to engineering problems. He has been involved in several research projects in the field of metal forming and has presented his work at national and international scientific conferences. He is currently a member of the research team ReachOptimum @ TEMA.
