Catarina de Lemos is a professional with a solid academic background and extensive experience bridging both academia and the industrial sector. In late 2020, she decided to pursue a PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Aveiro, while also serving as a Lecturer at the Escola Superior Aveiro Norte (ESAN - UA), where she taught courses related to her area of expertise from 2018 until 2022. During her academic training, Catarina focused on developing promising materials for lithium-ion batteries, resulting in two articles published in high-impact scientific journals, one of them as the first author. Since 2022, she has been a research fellow in the New Generation Storage (NGS) project (PRR - C644936001-00000045). Her expertise includes materials engineering and characterization techniques such as electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, coin cell battery assembly, and materials characterization.
In addition to her academic experience, Catarina has significant industrial experience as a Mechanical Engineer. In this role, she gained practical insight into business operations, developing customized solutions to meet client needs both in the European market and internationally.
Furthermore, she has over a decade of experience in science communication, having worked at Fábrica Centro de Ciência Viva - UA, where she developed and implemented a variety of outreach activities, honing her ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
Her combined experience in academia, industry, and science communication allows Catarina to act as a bridge between both sectors, driving knowledge transfer and fostering collaboration to advance innovation and promote sustainable manufacturing practices.
