António José da Fonseca Festas holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria (1996), a Licentiate and a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Aveiro (2000 and 2005), and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Aveiro (2024). His research is primarly focused on the machining of titanium and aluminum alloys for biomedical and aerospace applications. With nearly 30 years of professional experience, he has specialized in CNC machining.
Promoted and organized three workshops dedicated to CNC machining, designated as Jornadas Técnicas.
With several scientific articles published in specialized journals. Co-author of 1 book in the area of Mechanical Technology. Co-supervisor of several master's degrees in the field of machining and Mechanical Technology. Works in the area of Engineering Sciences and Technologies with an emphasis on Mechanical Engineering. Currently works as a senior technician at the University of Aveiro in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Is a member of the current Executive Committee of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, serving as Vice-Director for Infrastructure and Quality.
