ANTÓNIO GIL D'OREY DE ANDRADE CAMPOS graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Coimbra and obtained his Doctorate (2005) and Habilitation (2020), both in Mechanical Engineering, from the University of Aveiro. Since his BEng, A. Gil Andrade-Campos was a researcher at the LM3 (Laboratoire de Microstructure et Mécanique des Materiaux) of ENSAM, Paris, and invited researcher in LG2M (Université de Bretagne-Sud). Currently, his main research areas are Computational Mechanics and Engineering Optimisation at the Centre of Mechanical Technology and Automation of the University of Aveiro (TEMA). He is also a collaborator of the Institut de Recherche Dupuy de Lôme (IRDL, University of Bretagne-Sud, France), the NDT R&D group (KU Leuven) and the CEMMPRE (Centre of Mechanical Engineering, Materials and Processes of the University of Coimbra). A. Gil Andrade-Campos is the author of >350 communications to the scientific community (books, papers, etc.), two patents, and recipient of important awards (e.g. Prof. João Martins in Computational and Applied Mechanics 2015). Andrade-Campos has coordinated one EU project, 4 projects funded by the Portuguese FCT Science Foundation (total coordination >3.5M euros), and participated in >20 research projects (total participation >4M euros). He has supervised 16 doctoral theses (7 completed) and >50 master's and diploma theses. As a professor at the University of Aveiro, Andrade-Campos has taught >3700 hours to >4000 students. He was International Mobility/ERASMUS Coordinator for >5 years. In 2015-17, he was the Programme Director of the Master in Sustainable Energy Systems, and the Director of the Doctorate in Business Innovation (DBI) for 4 years (2019-2023). He is now Dean of the Doctoral School of the University of Aveiro.

Andrade-Campos has extensive experience in teaching and academic administration. He has taught over 3700 hours to more than 4000 students as a Professor at the University of Aveiro. Additionally, he served as the International-Mobility/ERASMUS Coordinator for over 5 years. From 2015 to 2017, he was the program director of the Master in Sustainable Energy Systems, and from 2019 to 2023, he served as the Director of the Doctorate in Business Innovation (DBI). Currently, he holds the position of Dean of the Doctoral School at the University of Aveiro. Andrade-Campos led and managed a team of over 40 people as the coordinator of the GRIDS R&D group from 2015 to 2018. Currently, he leads three R&D teams with a total of 20 members. Additionally, he was founder of the technology start-up company SCUBIC and he is author of several patents.
